TERRAZZO TILE FLOORING AND MODERN DESIGN, A CLASSY CHOICE
Turn your nose up at the thought of combining modern design with terrazzo tiles? You couldn’t be more wrong? Terrazzo tiles, highly traditional flooring that is often found in old houses, is still a highly elegant choice when combined with modern design.
In the January edition of AD you can see an example in a lovely Parisian apartment in Place Des Vosges.
The project designed by the architect Cyprien Bru has transformed the 17th-century apartment into a luminous and modern space in which works of art and design combine with history and modern furnishing. Indeed in the kitchen, the architect combines modern furnishing with design pieces from the ’70s and the terrazzo tile to cover select sides of the walls, creating a very special and contemporary effect.
The terrazzo tile flooring is the real star of the scene. An element that interacts with the modern look that often favours clean and light lines and yet makes an important statement embodying the complexity of history and an escape from the ordinary.
