Pastine / History

Pastina is a combination of various finely ground minerals and hydraulic binder. Pastina floors, already well-known at the end of the last century, were very popular at the end of the nineteenth century and early twentieth century due to the skill of the craftsmen who made them.

Pastina floors have decorated villas and palaces dating back to earlier times and give today’s visitors to these buildings the pleasure of admiring a unique type of flooring. The pieces produced measured 20×20 and 25×25 cm and included 20 and 25 cm hexagon shapes. An extensive range of decorations, carpets and edging were produced. Solid colours were often laid in contrast (a characteristic example of this is the “Margherita” made from hexagon shapes).
