CASA BURÉS, MODERNITY CREEPS INTO A HISTORIC BUILDING
A late 19th century block of flats near Passaig de Gràcia in Barcelona, Casa Burés, turns into a luxury structure with unusual lofts, preserving the building’s sumptuous structure and decoration. This is the artwork of TDB Arquitectura, that worked at the renovation of this amazing historical building.
The original project develops from the work carried out between 1900 and 1905 by Francesc Berenguer, Antoni Gaudì’s right-hand man, while TDB Arquitectura’s renovation started 3 years ago. The main objective of the TDB Arquitectura’s project of rehabilitation was to preserve the structure and decoration and, at the same time, reinterpreting its spaces to meet the needs of contemporary.
What is the outcome? 7000 square metres on six floors for residential use, original floorings, frescoed celings, cast-iron columns of the early 20th century, which blend harmoniously with modern furnishings and contemporary design.
