Grandinetti, contemporary tradition – Brera Design District, Milan
A secret cloister of the ancient Oratory of the Basilica of San Marco opens its doors to visitors to showcase the creations of Grandinetti, a historic company since 1902 and ambassador of Made in Italy excellence worldwide. Cement tiles, terrazzo, and mosaics, entirely handcrafted following a tradition passed down through generations, come to life in seven “theaters”, each characterized by different atmospheres and stories. These micro-environments, scattered throughout the courtyard, form a journey in which visitors can (re)discover cement tiles, a timeless part of our visual culture, poised to become a hallmark of contemporary homes.
The installation, curated by 4P1B Design Studio, also serves as a privileged scenographic setting to present the studio’s work. The 2016 novelties, alongside some of their most significant pieces, create an exhibition path that highlights the design process of the Milanese duo. Each object animates the space in which it is placed, generating, together with Grandinetti creations, an intense dialogue of shapes, materials, and colors.
